Flying Apron Bakery

Branding & Identity / Logo Design / Print Design

The Challenge

Rebrand a local Gluten-Free & Vegan Bakery & Cafe. Give them a new identity that invites people from all food backgrounds to visit the store, not just those with food sensitivities. Braintstorm character traits that represent the company and find a way to integrate those into the customer brand experience. Increase visibility reach new customers by creating a cohesive and friendly brand that represents Flying Apron. As this was a team project, part of the challenge was staying “on brand” while designing separately. Making sure everything fit together and felt like a seamless brand was of utmost importance.

The Solution

My partner and I brainstormed and came up with three characteristics to be the brand characteristics of Flying Apron. We felt that the words Transparent, Innovative, and Earnest were the best descriptions of Flying Apron’s character. We used these words to help inform our photography choices, patterns, and colors and all of the design decisions. We decided upon a hand-touched look and feel, a fun, bright color, illustrated patterns, lots of organic materials and a clean, modern sans serif paired with a more traditional, trustworthy serif.  Creating a mood board that demonstrated the visual values of “Innovative”, “Earnest”, and “Transparent” helped us stay on brand and flush out what the many Flying Apron customer touchpoints looked like.
